Call me Jess...

Writing about yourself is hard. So is marketing yourself.

I've been creating things for a long time but for a lot of that time, all I was doing was copying things. Now, I'm generating ideas and exploring mediums that make me happy. Because that's what all this is about.

Currently I'm a student at Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan working two jobs and seeing what I can do with who I am.

I like line a lot. Dull colors make my heart achy and if they're flat, I weep with joy. I'm strongly influenced by Modernism and "baby boom" design. Often, I freak out about books and book cover designs by Paul Rand, Alvin Lustig, and Chip Kidd is kind of my hero. Robert McCloskey is one of the greatest graphite illustrators ever and that's just where my obsession with children's books starts. Really that's barely any of it. It's my life's ambition to experience, learn, feel. Process.
